Overview
A protected stretch of coast east of Santa Marta, where forest-covered hills run down to beaches, coral reefs, mangroves and lagoons. Trails lead from the El Zaino entrance to Cañaveral, Arrecifes and Cabo San Juan, and boats also run from Santa Marta and Taganga. The park is sacred land for four Sierra Nevada peoples and closes for set periods each year, so check its status before you go.
